Disney Cruise 2010 – DVC Member Cruise

Well, just got back from our vacation on the Disney Wonder during the 4-Night DVC Member Cruise.

Our ports of call were only two visits to Castaway Cay.

Our stateroom was #2142 (Cat 09).

Our Cruise Director was Ray. Our cruise staff were: Stateroom Host – Antonio Arnade, Head Server – Anil Sharma, Server – Ray Goes, Assistant Server – Niti Nisaikla.

Our table mates Tom, Debby and Amanda live in Las Vegas. We found out they were going on the cruise and asked to have our rooms linked for dining.

On the way there, during our layover at Albuquerque, NM, Lizzy got to actually sit in the co-pilot’s chair in the cockpit while he showed her what the different instruments were for.

The night before the cruise, we stayed at Country Inn & Suites at Cape Canaveral.

During our first trip to Castaway Cay (we got to visit the island twice during this trip), we participated in the Stingray Adventure, where we got to pet and feed the stingrays. After this, we got to spend the rest of our time snorkeling with them in their area of the beach.

Getting ready for school

Well, today Lizzy got to have a well visit with the doctor. She needed to get three different pokes for her required immunizations to get prepared for going into school. Need I mention that she wasn’t quite that happy with this event?

Cinderella Play

Today was family night for the annual production that James Seastrand Helping Hands of NLV does for their fundraiser. Lizzy is part of the play as one of the town folk during the opening of the play.

Preschool Graduation

Well, tonight was Lizzy’s pre-school graduation program. She’s getting older – she is ALREADY talking about starting kindergarten! <sniff>

All of the children did a great job and appeared to have fun while they were performing their parts.

Lizzy received an award for being a “Little Momma” to others in class.

Disneyland May 2010

Well, we just got back from Disneyland early this morning, and we had a blast! We had some friends (Bryce, Susan and Abagail) stay with us a couple of days, so Lizzy had a play-friend.

We all stayed in a 1-bedroom villa at the Grand Californian – everyone appeared to have a great time.

Lizzy now hit the 42″ mark whenever they checked her height, so that meant she could now ride Mulholland Madness – she loved it! Last visit she could already ride the Grizzly River Run, so that wasn’t a new ride for her. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail was closed for enhancements so she didn’t get to go in that area.

Disneyland January 2010

Well, got back from Disneyland early this morning.

This trip was our first visit to DVC’s Villas at the Grand Californian. We stayed in a 1-bedroom villa and enjoyed it!

This trip Lizzy was just barely 42″ I guess cause on Grizzly River Run she could ride it, but not on Mulholland Madness – that did NOT make her too happy.

Disney Cruise 2009 – Western & Eastern Caribbean

Well, we just got back from what started as a 1-week cruise and wound up being 2 back-to-back 1-week cruises on the Disney Magic.

Our Captain for both weeks was Tom Forberg.

First Week – ports of call were (1) Key West, FL; (2) Grand Cayman (tender); (3) Cozumel, Mexico; (4) Castaway Cay.  Our stateroom was #6540 (Cat 06).

Our cruise staff were: Stateroom Host – Novlett Melvin-Thompson, Head Server – Zan Gocev, Server – Densak Sae-Jung, Assistant Server – Sol Lozano Ramos.

Our table mates were Javier, Gretchen, Isabella and Sophie.

While in port at Cozumel, Mommy got a Caribbean Topaz Ring.

Second Week – ports of call were (1) St. Maarten; (2) St. Thomas; (3) Castaway Cay. Our staterooms were #2568 (Cat 09) and #6014 (Cat 08) – had to move rooms due to noise.

Our cruise staff were: Stateroom Host (after we moved) – Jojo De La Pena, Head Server – Zan Gocev, Server – Grace Walters, Assistant Server – Michael “Mikey” G Wabe.

The reason for the extended cruise was Lizzy had bad double ear infections and the doctor (Gideon J Beukes) strongly suggested that she not fly home or else her ear drums might burst. The Orlando area had a food and wine festival going on so rooms were of short supply, so we decided to make the best of it and just stay aboard the Magic.

During the ‘first’ cruise, while visiting Castaway Cay, Lizzy also got to visit the First Aid station on the island. While having lunch with Andrea, she sneezed, throwing her head forward into the table, biting her tongue, which caused it to bleed — a lot! While this was unfolding, Lizzy’s Grammy and dad were walking back from snorkeling. They were met by Zan carrying a not so happy Lizzy, with her mom close behind. While in the first aid station, she said this was ‘the worst cruise ever’.  Had to laugh – second cruise for this almost 5-year old and she is already rating cruises.

During our second visit to Castaway Cay, it started to storm pretty good, so we decided it would be a good time to head back to the ship. However, the lightening in the area decided we should do something different – cast members started telling everyone to “seek shelter” and that the trams were not currently running due to bad weather.

During our visit to St. Thomas, we paid a visit to The Butterfly Farm.

During our second cruise, Andreia (concierge services) kept good care of us checking in on us now and then.

Executive Chef (Stefan) had heard that Lizzy was not feeling well and stopped by our table, and wanted to be sure that Lizzy knew that she could have anything on the ship.
