Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village

Today we returned home after staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani Village.

We stayed five nights in room 7548, on the 5th Floor, overlooking the Sunset Savanna.

Daisy spent her vacation over at the Best Friends Pet Care, but I am sure she is happy to be back home.

During our visit to Hollywood Studios, we finally were able to experience “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” for the first time.

Disney Cruise 2019 – Eastern Caribbean

Today we returned from an 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy’s 376th voyage.

Our ports of call were (1) Tortola, (2) St Thomas, and (3) Castaway Cay.

This was our first cruise since becoming residents of Florida.

While we were on the ship, our little fur-princess stayed at the Best Friends Pet Hotel at Walt Disney World. The day we picked her up, she spent some time at the salon – heh.

We stayed in stateroom # 7064 (Cat 5C – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah) located on Deck 7 Mid on the Port Side.

Our stateroom host was Benjamin Fernandes, and our dining team was Deneval Miller (head server), Elvin Ochoa Cruz (server), and Cindy Lopez Jimenez (asst server). Our Captain was Thord Haugen and our Cruise Director was Peter Hofer.

Our table mates (at table 54), Jerry and Melody, were from Arkansas, and had one girl (Anna) and two boys (John Mark and Luke).

This was the first cruise Lizzy was able to join the Vibe group. After one of the character dances, a group from the Edge and Vibe did a flash mob dance in the atrium.

Monday, June 17th, was our 30th Anniversary. We enjoyed a Brunch in Palo, with Boris as our server.

While visiting St Thomas, Joe and Lizzy went on a snorkeling excursion to Turtle Cove.

While on Castaway Cay, Lizzy was able to do The Wild Side Teen Adventure excursion.

During the DVC presentation of embarkation day, Joe was chosen to be part of the trivia portion, only to show he didn’t know the chronology of some Disney events. Then, later that evening during the welcome show in the theater, Joe joined Jeff Civillico on stage to show off his wonderful juggling ability – not. Of course, in retaliation, Joe was able to get Andrea to be picked during Jeff’s adult show that night. Needless to say, the rest of the cruise, the both of us were recognized by other cruisers.

The end of our 15th cruise (Magic: 2, Wonder: 5, Dream: 3, Fantasy: 5) marked our 100th night that we have spent on the beautiful Disney Ships.

Horseback Riding

Today, for Lizzy’s birthday, the three of us and three of Lizzy’s friends went horseback riding at Disney’s Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Fort Wilderness.

Lizzy rode Cooper, Andrea rode Bart, and Joe got to ride on Vegas (coincidence?)

Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village

So, this week (Mon-Sat), we found ourselves taking a staycation at Kidani Village in a DVC 2-Bedroom Villa with a view of the Sunset Savanna (room 7666, Pumbaa section). Although the room was cool to stay in, and liked the decor, you will find it to be far from food and other activities.

While we stayed there, Daisy found herself staying at Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World.

During the week we were able to visit all four theme parks, even though Tuesday wound up getting rained out while we were at Hollywood Studios due to the thunderstorms all day.

DiveQuest @ EPCOT

Today Joe was able to go scuba diving at Epcot Seas Adventures’ DiveQuest.

It takes place in their 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium. During the walking parts of our tour they were also able to see manatees and dolphins in their tanks (from outside their backstage tanks).

Total time for the actual dive was 40 minutes with the temperature of the water at 78 F and visibility of 203 ft – a lot better than it was like while learning to dive at Lake Mead.

The animal species that were in the aquarium were: sand tiger shark, brown/sandbar shark, black-nose shark, southern stingray, cow-nose stingray, bow-mouth guitarfish, guitarfish, loggerhead sea turtle, black-blotch ray, honeycomb Ray, porcupine Ray, leopard ray, cow-tail ray, bonnet head shark, zebra shark, and spotted eagle ray.

One of my favorite to swim with was Kat, a bow-mouth guitarfish – looks like a mix of a shark and a ray.
