Tonight we were able to attend the devotional at the Amway Center. Our speakers for the event were President Russell M Nelson and his wife, Wendy, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Harriet, and Elder Shane M. Bowen of the Seventy and his wife, Lynette.
Lizzy got to sit down on the floor with other young men and women from the area.
President Nelson during his talk asked the primary children to sing I am a Child of God.
Today we had the opportunity to participate in a special stake conference. We were able to listen to Elder Dale G. Renlund, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Sister Ruth L. Renlund, and Elder Victor P. Patrick, of the Seventy. Others that shared messages with us were President Bailey and Sister Sweeney (Stake YW President), and three others were asked to share their testimonies of Jesus.
Elder Renlund noted that he was the 100th Apostle to be ordained in this dispensation.
After the meeting concluded, The congregation was invited to shake the hands of our visitors, which we accepted the chance.
This weekend we were able to attend Stake Conference and listen to words prepared by Elder Michael A. Gillenwater, who was sustained as a member of the Seventy on April 2, 2016.
For the past few days (Wed-Sat), Lizzy was at Flaming Arrow Scout Reservation for girl’s camp. Even though there was plenty of rain, lightening and thunder, she didn’t have to get evacuated this year.
Lizzy has been up at Camp Stimson since Monday for girl’s camp. She was supposed to be up there until Saturday, but due to weather they were evacuated.
Today we were able to listen to the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Russell M. Nelson during a special stake conference for the North Las Vegas stake. He brought up two of his grandchildren, one of which had his 103rd great-grandchild about a month ago. Before he spoke, President Stewart spoke to us. Following him was Sister and President Nielsen, matron and President of the Nevada Las Vegas Temple.
As he was leaving, he walked down the aisle and shook hands with members as he did so. Andrea and Lizzy were privileged to be two of them.
Today was the Day that Lizzy was Baptized and Confirmed. It was very well attended by those who love Lizzy!
Afterward, at our house, we had a wonderful potato bar put together by our good friends that could have fed a small army! We even had plenty so that the next day the missionaries and some friends could come by and eat, and then take some home with them!
Today Lizzy gave her first talk in Primary! She did a great job!
This weekend, we were able to attend the Regional Conference held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Speakers we were able to listen to were President Monson (first counselor in the First Presidency), Richard G. Scott, Larry W. Gibbons, Merrill C. Oaks (area seventy), President McKee (mission president), President Twitchell (temple presidency).
