Today we went over to Claire’s and Lizzy got her ears pierced! She wasn’t too sure about it at the beginning, but now she is glad she did it!

This morning we returned from a 5-night stay at the Grand Californian at the Disneyland Resort. Some friends of ours (Tom & Amberlee) stayed at a nearby hotel and came to the parks with us – they had to leave on Thursday though.
The trip started out with meeting heavy traffic on the way there, which was followed by the car deciding it didn’t want to work and we were stranded on the side of the freeway for about 2.5 hours just about 10 miles past Primm. It wound up taking us a total of 10 hours to make it to the resort.
This trip was Lizzy’s first 46″ trip, which meant she got to ride Indian Jones! First ride wasn’t her favorite, but by the third time, she was starting to enjoy it.
Today was Lizzy’s Piano Recital, where 21 students performed great! There were students that played the piano, flute, french horn, and bass clarinet.
Lizzy was accompanied by Susan while she played “Come Fly” by Willard A. Palmer.
Today was the Winter Matinee for Lizzy’s school. The 1st grade performed “Squirm! A Wiggly, Giggly, Squiggly Musical”. Lizzy’s class performed as the bats.
Today we returned from a 15-night cruise on the Disney Wonder that departed the Port of Los Angeles on 4/29/12. This was the first-ever Disney Cruise Line voyage to our Hawaii.
Our travel agent was Dorothy Bond with Dreams Unlimited Travel.
Our ports of call were (1) Hilo HI; (2) Kahului, Maui, HI; (3) Honolulu, Oahu, HI; (4) Nawiliwili, Kauai, HI; (5) Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
The night before our cruise, we stayed at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott. The hotel stay was ok. However, the transfer from the hotel over to the port that we paid for through Disney left a lot to be desired. The people they had working at the hotel were rude, and then when we got to the port, we were in group #16 – would think that we should have been there sooner. The transportation back was fine, except that he tried to keep some of the luggage on the bus by not checking the rest of the bags.
Our stateroom was #5508 (Cat 09A), with our parents next door in #5510 (Cat 09A). Our room lacked the steamer truck, used to store clothing, included in our previous cruises.
Our Captain was Fabian Dib and our Cruise Director was Christiaan Abbott. Our cruise staff were: Stateroom Host – Rold “Herold” Santiago, Head Server – Kerry “Kerry Sean” Braithwaite, Server – Chat “Chatchai” Srisaeng, Assistant Server – Jude Fernandes.
Our neighbors in #5506 had two daughters, Josephine and Violet, which Lizzy got to be friends with.
Our table mates (at table 56) were from Canada, and they had three boys.
On the way to Hawaii, for the first 1.5 days, the health staff said that a little over half the ship were sea-sick, so the majority of them had matching souvenir bracelets (most people call them sea-bands that help with motion sickness). Of the 5 of us, 4 of us were included in that group.
At Hilo, HI, we got off the ship and were given kukui nut and flower leis. We then visited Hilo Hattie and Wal-Mart. While at Wal-Mart, we HAD to eat at the McDonald’s inside there. Of course Lizzy had to give a ratimg of the food – best she has had in days.
At Kalului, Maui, HI, we got off and visited the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center (the mall there), where Lizzy rode a small train around and played in the play area for a little while.
At Honolulu, Oaho, HI, we took an excursion to tour Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, which allowed us to view the available rooms, and tour the resort’s pool area.
At Nawiliwili, Kauai, HI, we took an excursion to visit the Kilohana Plantation. We rode a train around the plantation, allowing us to view the different orchards they were growing, and it also stopped so that we could feed pigs, goats and sheep some bread. Then we went to the clayworks area, where each of us had a chance to paint a clay tile, which was then fired and delivered to the ship before it left port. We then went out into the orchard to watch someone prepare some fruits that we were able to then eat, and then went out to pick and eat some sugar cane, and lychee fruit.
On one of the sea days heading back home, Lizzy stayed overnight in the Oceaneer’s Lab during their Coast to Coast Character Camp Out!
We watched performances by magician Mike Super, ventriloquist Ronn Lucas, musician John Charles, juggler Charlie Peachock (from America’s Got Talent), and watched a lu’au by the Tihati performers.
We had a poker tournament among some of the disboard dad’s, which Joe wound up winning. They had to have a follow-up game (probably for something to do) on the following friday, which Andrea’s dad was the winner.
We had brunch in Palo on Saturday, May 12, and we were served by Nikola from Serbia.
The total distance traveled was 4,945 nautical miles (5,691 miles) with a maximum speed of 18.7 knots (21.5 mph). Guest count was 1,921 and Crew count was 992 for a total of 2,913 people.
The end of our 6th Disney Cruise marked the 44th night we have spent on board one of these ships. 🙂
Yesterday morning one of the two goldfish we got Lizzy died. Since Lizzy was over at Grammy and Papa’s house last night, daddy took care of the fish until tonight when Lizzy was able to say goodbye.

Last night we returned from a 3-night stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel in the Disneyland Resort Area. During our first night of our vacation, we went over to Medieval Times. Lizzy was recognized during a ceremony by the King, and during the performance, she got a sash from our prince from the tournament.
Last night we returned from a 6-night vacation. We took a cousin with us so Lizzy would have someone to play with and went for 2 days at Knott’s Berry Farm, and the other days were at Disneyland. Should have just done all days at Disneyland as many of the rides at Knott’s are not suited for little ones. We stayed in the Disneyland Hotel with a view of the new pool area, which the girls loved.
Ok, well today was the 2nd annual Easter Egg Drop at Seastrand Park (in North Las Vegas). It did not appear to me that those that were in charge of the event had a well thought out plan.
Once the easter eggs were dropped from the helicopter, chaos then started. Everyone, and not just the children, ran onto the fields, causing some children to get lost or ran over by other people. Lizzy was one of those lost, and I had to find her among the many other children at their lost children area.
We won’t be visiting this event in the future — caused way too many panic attacks.
